Fashion has always been more than clothes for Heritage. It’s been a language, a canvas, and eventually, a business called Wear’N’Smart—a brand rooted in confidence, intentionality, and the belief that what you wear shapes how the world receives you.
Launched in June 2022, Wear’N’Smart designs stylish and empowering apparel for women of all sizes, ages, and backgrounds. The philosophy is simple: “Dress the way you wish to be addressed.” For Heritage, clothing isn’t just fabric stitched together; it’s an extension of self-worth, and she wants every woman in her designs to feel both beautiful and powerful.
The seed was planted back in secondary school. Heritage was the girl with a pencil in one hand and a sketchbook in the other, always doodling dresses when the class got too boring. Over the years, those sketches grew into a vision. Why keep the designs tucked away when they could live, breathe, and empower? That was the thought that birthed Wear’N’Smart.
Now, three years into this journey, she credits her unique style to a mix of divine inspiration, her own imagination, and the courage to carve her own lane. “I’m not one to replicate,” she says. “I focus on creating something truly original and different.”
Owning a brand comes with freedom; The freedom to dream, sketch, produce, and even price your work as you see fit. But it also comes with stress. “Every part drives me crazy, it’s not easy o” she admits with a laugh. Yet nothing compares to the joy of seeing her designs on women who stand taller and smile wider because of what they’re wearing.
The road hasn’t been smooth, especially in Nigeria’s current economy. Rising costs of fabric, chaotic deliveries, and clients balancing their own tight budgets keep her on her toes. Some days, she even jokes about applying for other jobs. But she keeps showing up. “God keeps me going.” she says honestly.
Along the way, she’s picked up patience like a new accessory. Patience with people. Patience with the process. And patience with herself. “Money will come eventually,” she reflects. “There’s no need to hold on to toxic clients or stress yourself into the ground.”
Heritage’s advice for anyone thinking of starting out is “Stay consistent. Consistency is key. Don’t copy anyone, always chase your own creativity, and keep God first.”
She also believes in breaking fashion rules. While many designers stick to the same sewing patterns, she enjoys experimenting with techniques and challenging what’s expected. That willingness to go against the grain is part of what makes Wear’N’Smart stand out.
Wear’N’Smart isn’t just about fashion. It’s about the little revolution that happens when a woman feels good in what she’s wearing. It’s about redefining confidence, one outfit at a time.
For Heritage, the hustle is equal parts exhausting and exhilarating. But like her designs, she’s intentional about every step. And that, more than anything, is the fabric of her success.
