Big life changes don’t usually start with big moves, they start with small shifts. The kind of things that seem too minor to matter… until you stick with them for a few months and realize: damn, I feel better.
Here are 10 tiny habits that could drastically improve your life by December if you start now. Consistency > intensity. Let’s get into it.
1. Brush Twice Daily (Yes, Really)
We’re starting basic for a reason. Poor oral hygiene doesn't just give you bad breath. It also affects your heart health, your confidence, and even your immune system.
Morning and night. No shortcuts.
Floss too. An alarming number of people don’t floss. It’s bad for your oral health. You should floss every night before you brush your teeth. You’ll be happy with the results.
2. Reduce Your Screen Time by an Hour or Two
Drop that phone; Our parents were right. It really is that damn phone. You don’t need to go full digital detox. Just take back one hour a day. That’s 30 hours a month, enough time to read a book, exercise, call a friend, or literally just be bored (your brain needs that too).
3. Drink Water Before Coffee
Hydrating before caffeine improves focus, balances digestion, and kickstarts your metabolism. It also reduces that jittery crash. Just one glass. Do it while your kettle’s boiling. You can even keep a water bottle by your bedside so it’s easier to keep up.
4. Make Your Bed Right After You Stand Up
It takes less than 2 minutes and immediately gives you a small win for the day. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just do it. Momentum matters. Plus, it makes your space and mind feel instantly less chaotic. This only counts if you don’t jump right back in bed.
5. Don’t Put it Down, Put it away
It’s easy to just drop things anywhere. In the long run, that’s cluttering your space and making it look untidy. Set a timer and put a few things away; on your desk, your floor, your kitchen counter. Don’t leave that cup on the counter, put it back in the cupboard. Don’t leave those shoes by the door. Put it on the rack. You’ll feel better and have less chaos to deal with.
6. Practice Gratitude
It’s so easy to lose sight of what you do have.
We get caught up chasing the next thing, comparing lives, or stressing over what’s missing. But even on rough days, there’s always something to be thankful for.
You might not be where you want to be but you’re definitely not where you used to be.
Say a word of thanks, even if it’s just for breath, peace, or your favorite snack.
7. Walk More, Especially for Short Errands
Instead of hopping on a bike or driving to go buy something nearby, just walk.
It’s low-effort cardio that increases your heart rate, boosts energy, and even clears your head.
Get those steps in.
8. Wash Your Face Before Bed
The skincare girlies weren’t lying. Going to bed with a clean face can improve texture, prevent breakouts, and help your products actually work.
Also, wear sunscreen even if you’re indoors, or only outside “for like 10 minutes.”
And for those that think dark skinned people don’t need sunscreen; Sunburn doesn’t discriminate.
9. Compliment Yourself Daily
Out loud. In the mirror. In your notes app. However you want.
Speak to yourself the way you wish other people would. With kindness, love and truth.
Try saying: “I love how I handled that,” or “My energy is unmatched today.”
Practicing your love language on yourself (words, touch, gifts, time) builds self-worth from the inside out.
10. Create a “Done List” Instead of a To-Do List (Once a Week)
Instead of writing what you need to do, jot down what you actually did, no matter how small.
It builds momentum, reveals hidden wins, and helps you track real progress, not just pressure.
You don’t need a massive life overhaul to feel better by December. Stack these small shifts from now till the end of the year? That’s when the magic happens.
Thank you ❤️🥰
